The Cost of Doing It Right
Let's talk about price, honestly, for a moment.
It would be easier not to. It's simpler to talk about materials and meaning and let the number
speak for itself. But we think you deserve the full picture, not just the parts that photograph
well.
Doing this the right way costs more. There is no way around that.
Plant-based leathers are not cheaper than synthetic alternatives, whatever people assume.
Cactus, apple, and pineapple-based materials require more careful sourcing, more research,
more failed batches before something works.
Paying artisans fairly, rather than pushing for the fastest possible turnaround, costs more too.
So does small-batch production instead of mass manufacturing. So does refusing to cut
corners on construction just to hit a lower price point.
We could reduce our costs quickly if we wanted to. Cheaper base materials. Faster labour.
Looser quality checks. The industry has a hundred small ways to shave off a price tag, and
most of them involve someone or something quietly paying for it.
We are not willing to make that trade.
So when you see a Sarjaa price, know that it reflects a chain of honest decisions, not markup for the sake of markup. It reflects a material that took months to source responsibly. It reflects a person who was paid what their skill is worth. It reflects a piece built to survive years, not one season.
Fast fashion hides its true cost. It just moves that cost somewhere you don't see it.
We would rather show you ours upfront.
That is not always the easier story to tell. But it is the honest one, and honesty, to us, is worth
more than a lower number.
Love your style, love planet, love Sarjaa.
